Currently there are a dozen professors use Cyberhood to collaborate their dissertation and publications with their peers and students. Cyberhood team has designed a version tracking that controls version in two ways:

You can save your version in the Cyberhood server as soon as you compose a draft. The system will keep this version even you save later a newer draft. In other words, all drafts are available in the server for you.
For anyone to revise a document, he can lock the file first. It will become read-only until your revision is complete and file unlocked.

What about server crashes?

With a large hard disk installed in the server, Cyberhood automatically and periodically backs up all data in the server to the hd. When the server crashes, it can restart its hd to restore the lost data. However, Cyberhood goes further by connecting your local server to the headquarters servers. That way, when the server crashes, you will not find out because you will be using the headquarters server instead. However, Cyberhood will notify you that your local server is out of order and needs repair.
